Late last week, Senator Max Baucus and Rep Dave Camp, the leaders of the two Congressional tax writing committees, launched taxreform.gov and began collecting comments on the tax reform process from the public. Here at ATF, we wanted to make sure that respondents would leave messages supporting the closure of corporate tax loopholes, higher tax rates for the wealthy, and revenue positive reform. But we can depend on Grover Norquist and his Americans for Tax Reform to be loud voices calling for the lowering of tax rates and allowing corporations and the rich to avoid paying their fair share.
Today, we officially launched our #BeatGrover Campaign in response to the launch of taxreform.gov. Here’s what our Campaign Manager, Frank Clemente, had to say:
“I’m issuing a challenge today to Grover Norquist that we’ll generate more comments from everyday Americans pressing for a more fair tax system – not one favoring the richest 2 percent and big corporations through special-interest tax loopholes,” said Frank Clemente, campaign manager, Americans for Tax Fairness. “We know the American people and leading economists are with us and we’re putting as much pressure on members of Congress as we can to make sure that they end special-interest tax dodging. We need a fair and balanced solution that requires the wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share of taxes, not one that reduces tax rates.”
