State-by-State Impact of the Sequester

Over the weekend, the White House released fact sheets on the effects the sequester would have on services such as education, public health and law enforcement in the individual states. Today, the Washington Post released an interactive graphic to help navigate the cuts.

In New York, for example, 4,300 children will lose access to Head Start programs, almost 600 teaching jobs will be at risk, 7,000 fewer children will receive much-needed vaccinations and a fund that delivers meals to seniors will be cut by over $1 million.

These cuts are senseless, and are only occurring because conservatives in Congress refuse to force their corporate CEO friends to pay a cent more in taxes. That’s a small price to pay to protect these programs.
