Workers Gather to Protest “Sequestration”

by Tatenda Musapatike

In 3 days if Congress fails to act devastating across the board cuts, known as “sequestration,” will go into effect.  750,000 jobs could be lost,  600,000 at-risk women and children could lose life-saving nutritional aid, 70,000 children could lose access to head start, and numerous other health and benefit programs will lose funding.  These cuts will affect the lives of individuals and break down communities.

On February 12th, labor organizations rallied on Capitol Hill to let Congress know that large corporations and the rich need to pay their fair share in order to avert these disastrous cuts.

Check out video of the rally and average workers talking about how the cuts will affect their lives here.
