Last night, Americans for Tax Fairness released the following statement by its Executive Director, David Kass, on the GOP-controlled House of Representatives’ vote to reject legislation to extend the Affordable Care Act Tax credits:
“Congressional Republicans once again revealed whose side they’re on. Instead of siding with millions of everyday Americans, they voted to increase healthcare costs which will now put affordable coverage out of reach for millions. If it wasn’t already clear, Trump and his GOP allies in the House will stop at nothing to enrich the same billionaires and big businesses that fund their campaigns—all while workers and families struggle to get by, with healthcare costs among their biggest burdens. The same GOP that voted last summer to give the richest Americans and most profitable companies trillions of dollars in tax cuts somehow can’t find the funds this winter to ensure 20 million Americans can afford their health insurance.”
