Americans For Tax Fairness Names Trevor Thomas as Communications Director
Thomas to lead communications strategy for national campaign with more than 230 national and state organizations united in support of ending Bush tax cuts for richest 2 percent
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans for Tax Fairness, a campaign with more than 230 national, state, and local organizations united in support of a tax system that works for all Americans, announced today the appointment of Trevor Thomas as director of communications. Thomas will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing and evaluating all communications for the group as the momentum grows for extending Bush-era tax cuts for 98 percent of Americans and 97 percent of small businesses while ending them for the richest 2 percent. He will report directly to campaign manager Frank Clemente.
“Americans for Tax Fairness is pleased to have Trevor join our team as we enter a critical time in the legislative battle to extend tax cuts for 98 percent of Americans while making sure the wealthiest 2 percent pay their fair share,” said Frank Clemente, campaign manager at American’s for Tax Fairness. “We’re launching an aggressive communications strategy in key states, and I’m delighted to have someone of Trevor’s experience and passion. Trevor has worked on some of the major progressive issues of our time, including the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’”
Thomas recently ran for U.S. Congress in Michigan’s 3rd District, garnering support in the Democratic Primary from former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend, U.S. Reps. Diana DeGette, Barney Frank, Raul Grijalva, Chellie Pingree and National Planned Parenthood. He previously directed external affairs for Media Matters for America, a non-profit media watch-dog group. For four years, Thomas directed communications on the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Before joining HRC, he worked on the communications team for Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. Thomas began his career at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI. He earned his degree in broadcast journalism at Grand Valley State University.
