WASHINGTON, D.C. – Americans for Tax Fairness, a national coalition representing more than 280 groups pressing for a tax system that requires the wealthy and big corporations to pay their fair share of taxes, will hold a national media conference call TODAY, Monday, May 20, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. ET just one day ahead of the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations hearing titled “Offshore Profit Shifting and the U.S. Tax Code – Part 2 (Apple, Inc.).” The conference call will highlight an upcoming report by Citizens for Tax Justice with new numbers documenting Apple’s ongoing offshore tax avoidance. The report and speakers will also explain why tax reforms expected to be advocated by Tim Cook – a tax repatriation holiday and a territorial tax system – would encourage more offshore tax avoidance, and what Congress needs to do to end corporate tax dodging that Apple and other multinational companies engage in costing the U.S. Treasury $90 billion a year. Americans for Tax Fairness will be live blogging and live Tweeting from the Tuesday U.S. Senate hearing.
