Today, Americans for Tax Fairness released a video of president-elect Joe Biden’s statements about tax fairness issues, and a statement from Frank Clemente, executive director of Americans for Tax Fairness, on the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris:

“Vice President Biden ran a full-throated campaign in support of making the rich and corporations pay their fair share and repealing their Trump-GOP tax cuts.   Biden put forward the most progressive tax reform plan ever authored by a major party general election presidential candidate, spent millions of dollars advertising about tax and investment issues and made tax fairness a centerpiece of his stump speech. He has a mandate to enact a fair share tax system that will create an economy that works for all of us, not just the wealthy few. 

“The pandemic has exposed the weak foundations of President Trump’s and America’s economy: gross inequality, with billionaire wealth rising by one-third or nearly $1 trillion since the pandemic began; 25 million unemployed and vast swaths of the population living paycheck to paycheck; unaffordable and inadequate healthcare, childcare and supports for family caregiving; and a huge lack of investment in working families and communities through education, housing, infrastructure and shifting to a green economy.

“Addressing many of these ills will require creating a tax system that requires the wealthy and corporations to pay their fair share. We, at Americans for Tax Fairness, look forward to working with President-Elect Biden, Vice President-Elect Harris, and Congress to enact progressive tax reforms that do just that by putting working families first.”
