New Report: Latino Workers Could See Expenses Rise By over $1,500 Under GOP Fiscal Plans

May 20, 2025

Today, ahead of the House vote on Trump’s Tax bill, Americans for Tax Fairness released a new analysis showing that Latino households with workers in key industries would see their annual expenses increase by approximately $1,500 next year. The report found that workers in food service, healthcare, maintenance, production, and transportation industries would face average cost increases of $1,430, while those in construction and maintenance would see increases of $1,530. The analysis also revealed that these same GOP fiscal policies would boost the income of households earning over $915,000, a group with few Latino members, by more than $36,000.

“Trump and his billionaire-backed allies in Congress are pursuing one of the most aggressive anti-worker economic agendas in modern history. Latino workers and families in critical industries—construction, agriculture, transportation, and other sectors—will see their costs soar and their Medicaid and food assistance slashed, while CEOs and billionaires profiting from their labor receive trillions in tax breaks,” said David Kass, ATF Executive Director. “Trump and Republicans promised to cut costs, but instead their proposals are full of policies that will raise prices for millions of Latino construction workers, home health aids, and restaurant workers.”
