The following statement from Americans for Tax Fairness executive director David Kass was issued in response to news that the House Budget Committee was commencing work on a FY 2025 budget resolution:

“Budgets show what you value. Republicans in control of the House Budget Committee can demonstrate they care about America’s working families by rejecting cuts to vital public services like Social Security, Medicare and other key programs – and instead raise more needed revenue through fairer taxes on the rich and wealthy corporations. Rather than using ill-informed and tired rhetoric to criticize the tax-and-spending reforms contained in President Biden’s proposed budgets, the GOP should use them as a healthy starting point as they work with their Democratic colleagues to get our nation’s fiscal house back in order.
